Warhawk Catholic Campus Ministry is the primary source of Catholic life for students at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Our mission is to share the abundant love of Jesus Christ on campus through worship, outreach, fellowship, and leadership. We hope to nurture the spiritual growth of our community in the way of the Catholic Church.
Students are leaders at Masses, taking volunteer roles as lectors, choir members, altar servers, ushers, gift bearers, and Eucharistic ministers. Whitewater students also live out their faith through service, including participating in mission trips, volunteering at area senior centers, holding food drives, and assisting at St. Vincent de Paul.
Ministry at Warhawk Catholic involves missionaries through Brew City Catholic, where young adults from the region help our campus minister and student organization leaders build a Catholic presence and peer-to-peer Catholic community on campus. This community gains strength through retreats, social events, and weekly gatherings. Many Whitewater alumni claim they've made lifelong friendships by participating in Warhawk Catholic.
Our keystone weekly activity is large group meetings on Wednesday nights, where we come together as an organization to listen to one of our student leaders give an interactive talk on a topic related to the Catholic faith. Since many of these topics started off as ideas from our members, they tend to be relevant and approachable to everyone from veteran Catholics to those in the earliest stages of discovering the religion.
We also offer many opportunities for our members to encounter the Sacraments and scripture. Our weekly small group Bible and Gospel studies are held at a wide variety of times and places. We offer free dinner and Adoration on Thursdays, Daily Mass on Tuesday nights, and rides to many of the Sunday masses at St. Patrick's. More information about all of these ministries can be found under Get Involved.
Warhawk Catholic also works to provide transformative, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for its members. In the past, we've offered retreats and pilgrimages to Holy Hill, the Inheritance conference, the Seek conference, and even World Youth Day. The organization attends a wide variety of such events each year, and also uses much of the money it raises from the monthly cookie bakes to help make these impactful experiences more affordable for our members.
If you're someone who's thinking about joining Warhawk Catholic, come check us out at our next large group meeting! We offer a super friendly and welcoming environment, and lots of chances to socialize with our members. We always strive to embody the love of Jesus Christ by ensuring that our organization is a place where everyone feels like they can belong.
